I would never issue a blanket endorsement of Dave Ramsey, but I picked up a thought from him yesterday that I really liked.  He was talking about debt reduction and threw out a little quasi formula:

(FI / T) * G = M

FI: Focused intensity
T: Time
G: God
M: Momentum

Here is what he was saying: if you focus intently on a goal for substantial time, you see positive results.  And as God chooses to multiply your efforts, you can see huge things happen.

Lots of you guys want to get better on the piano.  If that is your goal, this is your formula.  Lots of intensity, lots of time, and hoping for God to bless.  As Ramsey said, this is not like cooking in a microwave; it is like cooking in a crock pot.

Forget about marathon practices a few times a month.  Just decide you are going to find 20 minutes every single day.  Commit to that for a year and you will improve.

Will you do me a personal favor?
