Use coupon code PACKAGE10.I am happy to announce both a new project as well as a contest. In the fall, I am producing a PBS-style concert DVD. I will be playing along with an orchestra, but am looking for a few special guests. If you are a musician, I want to invite you to send an audition video. If you are chosen, you will have the opportunity to play in that concert and appear on the DVD.
Here are more details.
The concert date is not set in stone yet, but will be during a weekend in the fall. The venue will be in Charleston, SC.
The concert will feature me on piano along with an orchestra. However, there will be a few spots where I will play with either other instrumentalists or vocalists. I am probably going to do one piece that features a solo instrumentalist and one that features a vocalist.
If you are interested, please submit a video audition. You can mail a DVD or upload a video to any video sharing site and send me an email with its location.
What I am interested in is a unique sound and great ability to expressively communicate. You can send an audition for any instrument you want, though if you know my music, you probably know which ones I am attracted to. While this is probably obvious, sorry pianists, but this contest is not for you.
You can also send any style you wish, but again, you probably know what styles I like. In general, I want something that is either laid back and extremely expressive or something that is high energy.
Last, if I like your audition, I will ask you about a few things to make sure that we can work together from a philosophical and theological standpoint.
If you are selected, you will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Charleston and compensation for performing in the concert and being recorded. It will not make you rich, but might be a good opportunity for exposure.
Please don't spend a lot of money on producing an audition. Any decent video camera is fine. Just make sure you have a lot of lights on and the sound is pretty good. Ideally, you will have a decent microphone. A good place to record your audition would be in your church.
Will you do me a personal favor?
