As many of you know, I have been publishing free church improvisation lessons for some time.  I am glad to have received numerous emails from pianists who appreciated them.

On the other hand, I have heard from many pianists who needed more.  Some were confused by written lessons and others have asked me to record samples of some of the techniques I use.  So, earlier this year, I decided to take the unusual step of recording a six hour DVD series on church music improvisation.

I used Jason Prisk and his company Glassworks Media for the project.  I have worked with Jason on multiple projects over the years and he is the consummate professional.  We ended up designing a set in my home and using three cameras for the production.  Here is a shot of how it looked:

We recorded the project over three days in October and it is still in the editing phase.  We will be ready to ship these out in time for Christmas presents.

If you are wondering why you would purchase this course rather than just read the free lessons online, here are the advantages of the course as I see them.

1) More effective for those who prefer learning in this format rather than reading.
2) Allows you to actually hear me demonstrate what I am teaching.
3) Is structured more like a formal class.  Contains nine independent lessons and homework assignments for each lesson.
4) Covers many things that are not in the free lessons.  It also covers material found in the free lessons but in a more structured and thorough way.

My target audience for this course are pianists who are at least at the intermediate stage.  Early beginners will be frustrated.  However, if you know some basics of theory such as how to build major and minor triads, you should be ready for this course.

You can read much more and see a introductory video at http://www.greghowlett.com/dvd-course.aspx.  Let me know if you have any questions.
