NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS SALE
Through 2/15/2012, save 25% on all instructional courses with coupon code RESOLVE2012. Learn moreNext weekend, I am teaching a masters class in Maryland. This weekend however, I am going to two masters classes to learn myself. I like it that way. Regardless of what I am doing in music on a professional level, I cannot imagine getting to the point where I think I do not need to learn any more.
As I have mentioned before, I study piano with Kevin Bales in Atlanta. I have been working with him for about two years and have learned a ton about the way music works. He is hosting a masters class this weekend at Georgia State University where we will be playing completely improvised music in an ensemble. A few years ago, I would have thought it was magic but I now actually know how to do it (in a limited way).
I am also attending the Pine Lake Music Keyboard Symposium this Friday and Saturday. If you live in the Atlanta area, consider coming. It will feature one of my favorite arrangers, Joseph Martin. Heather Sorenson and Joel Raney will also be there. I do not know much about Heather's music but we were friends back when we were in college together. I do remember her being extremely talented and I am not surprised that she is now published by Lillenas.
Will you do me a personal favor?
