Anthony Weiner is someone I always enjoyed watching when I used to actually watch news channels. He is extraordinarily bright and very quick on his feet. There are two problems though. First, he is a politician and second, he is a politician that I almost never agree with.
This yelling does not bother me, especially if it is sincere. Considering the issues we are facing, people should get angry and fight hard for what they believe in.
But this is what bothers me. This vote had nothing to do with the 9/11 victims. It had to do with politics. It had to do with politicians who are so focused on their elections that they are completely divorced from the real world.
If the Democrats wanted to help the 9/11 victims, they would not have tried to pass the law without amendments. And if the Republicans wanted to help the 9/11 victims, they would have voted for the law regardless of whether they got to tack on amendments.
In a few weeks, Democrats will be running ads touting that Republicans voted against helping 9/11 victims. Republicans will be running ads with their own spin on things.
So, 9/11 victims are used as pawns in the hands of power-hungry fools who live in a fantasy world called Congress. Please don't try to tell me that one party is better than the other. They are both playing these games.
If you think our political system can be fixed, I am afraid you have more faith than me. I do not even find it entertaining any more.
Will you do me a personal favor?
