Watching Olympic gymnastics last night was a good reminder that the very best of the best still make performance mistakes.

Not just an occasional mistake but LOTS of mistakes. And that is after years of intense practice on a 1 minute routine.

If they make mistakes, so will you, especially when you do not have the luxury of practicing as much as they do.

So don’t beat yourself up over the mistakes you make on the piano on Sunday in your church.

Wow. That’s very sage advice. I can’t count the number of times the only thing I remember from a performance are the mistakes I’ve made. I now try to find some good things from the performance to dwell on afterward so that my last thoughts of the performance are only good ones.
