Clip of the week: Tim Parton and "God's Been Good"

I love music that is simple yet sophisticated.  We need more of that kind of music in the church.  Here is a song that meets that criteria from Tim Parton, pianist for Legacy Five.  I have known Tim for years.  He is an outstanding pianist and a truly humble person.

Like I said, this song sounds simple but it isn't really.  It is very, very well written.

Great song. One thing I like about you Greg is that you are not afraid to praise other Christian pianists. I know they are not competitors but they sort of are. I have known too many pianists who will do anything to avoid actually admitting that others are as good or better.

You have talked about Stan Whitmire, Tim Parton, and I think Dino in the past. What other Christian pianists do you like?

Also, what do you think about New Age music like Jim Brickman?

John, let's see. The more famous pianists I like are the ones you mention as well as Joseph Martin. There are less famous ones I like as well but don't want to start naming them here because so many are my friends and I would leave someone out.

There are certainly Christian pianists I don't enjoy, and that includes some more famous ones as well. Many sound great until you take away their tracks and then it all falls apart. I like hiding behind tracks too but it can really cover a multitude of sins.

Please let me off the hook on Brickman:)
