Sometimes, it just seems that the world is falling to pieces.  If you put up a shield of optimism in the morning, it can be shattered by evening.  Fortunately, Christians always have a rock to stand on that is unaffected by every new crises.

But, I have to admit that this story about KFC and Oprah put a big dent in my optimism.  We really have people doing sit-ins at KFC restaurants and demanding free food?  Hopefully not enough of them to swing an election...

Read this article and then read the brain dead comments here.

Let me be blunt.  If you paid for something, you have the right to demand it.  If you are getting something for free, and you throw a fit because you don't get it, you have problems.  How in the world has the United States generated such a large number of losers like this?

I very much feel for KFC.  They made a big mistake and they are going to pay dearly for it.  I can't imagine how they thought they could get enough chicken to every restaurant to feed everybody who wants free food.  There are an awful lot of people out there who want free food and apparently are willing to waste hours of their life standing in line to get it.

If you remember, Oprah's brilliant viewers did something similar a few years ago when she gave her whole audience new cars.  When they found out they would have to pay taxes on the transaction, they threw a fit and demanded that she pay the taxes for them.  Some even gave the cars back to avoid paying taxes.  I suppose the idea of selling the car for $10,000, paying $2,000 in taxes, and wasting the extra $8,000 on cell phones and lattes was just too complicated for them.

So here is my advice.  If you watch Oprah, stop immediately and your IQ should go up by at least 20 points.  And if you do have a coupon for $4 worth of free chicken, think about how valuable your time is before you redeem it.  Very few of us have the time to stand in a line for an hour to save $4.

And if you do stand in line and they don't honor your coupon for any reason, don't get mad at anyone but yourself.

Will you do me a personal favor?
