I am very thankful that I have plenty to do every day, but here lately, I have been feeling like something has to give.  I panicked earlier this week when I was listening carefully to how I was playing the songs that I am recording next week.  In many cases, I am just not with the track.  The problems are not huge but they are annoying.  So, I have been practicing like crazy in preparation for the first day of recording next Wednesday.

This morning, I got up and took the children to school.  Then I practiced from 8:30 until 1:00.  I packed a suitcase and ate lunch between 1:00 and 1:15.  Then I immediately left for the airport and flew to Los Angeles where I will be working a trade show for the next few days.  I get home around midnight on Sunday. 

The recording sessions next week are night sessions starting at 5:00 pm.  We will probably work until about 3:00 am.  I will probably go to bed late on Sunday and the following days and sleep late to help get my body ready to work those hours.

You might ask if it is normal to do late night recording sessions.  It is certainly normal to be in the studio very late, but it is not normal to start as late as 5:00 pm.  We are doing that only because I am in love with the piano at Kennesaw State and I have to work around their schedule.  It is the price I have to pay to get the piano I want.  I should be fine.  I remember starting one day in the studio at 9:00 am and working through about 5:00 am the next day.  So, this will be comparatively easy.

However, I am certainly looking forward to being done with the recording.  My piano teacher is ready too.  He keeps talking about getting “back to work.” (I have been neglecting my normal music for the past month.)  And here I thought I was working already…
