People are certainly intrigued by the strategy. So far, so good. It is accomplishing what I wanted to accomplish.
As I have mentioned before, the unique strategy I am using is due to the fact that marketing is fundamentally and radically changing right now. Because I market other things besides music, I am a constant student of what is happening in the marketing world.
One organization that I study carefully is the White House. President Obama understands (or at least has people that understand) what is happening and they are masters of marketing in this new world. His use of social media, the internet, videos, and such is brilliant. I just watched a video the White House produced about how he reads ten letters a day. There were a few interesting things in the video, but Obama also took the opportunity to spin his typical health care propaganda. The video is currently spreading across the internet and with it, spreading the Obama message.
Many Presidents have tried to be aloof from the people. Obama does his best to at least project an image that he is of the people by the way he dresses and the things he does. For example, he spent several minutes on TV a few months ago dissecting the NCAA tournament. Appearing on the late night TV shows in an informal way may seem to some to be undignified for the office, but it is a very clever way to get his message out.
These types of marketing strategies represent the future. There is a lot to learn from the White House even if (like me), you don't agree with much of what is going on there.
Will you do me a personal favor?
